THE STORY BEGINS IN 1925

Seven area women’s clubs, with seven dollars to donate united their efforts to “secure a home for elderly people in Lincoln County.”

The Bryant property and its colonial home on the Damariscotta River was purchased by George J. Woodman and donated to the Lincoln County Union Women’s Clubs to establish The Lincoln Home for the Aged.

The Lincoln Home philosophy is steeped in tradition and history. In 1926, a promise to provide nurturing care, in a beautiful environment, for seniors was made.

The Lincoln Home’s commitment to our legacy guides us.

The promise continues.

Today, The Lincoln Home is one of the last free-standing, not-for-profit senior care communities in Maine, and receives no federal or state dollars. A Resident Financial Assistance Fund allows us to provide financial assistance to residents who have exhausted their resources, so they may remain in this place they love and call home.

The original Bryant Homestead was converted into Independent Apartments for seniors when our new addition was added in 2004.
